For the last six years that I’ve been practicing real estate, I’ve never represented a buyer until now. Today my very first buyers went to settlement on a delightful two bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse level condo at “The Towers” in Pikesville, Maryland. We got an amazing price of $71,500. The last time my buyers purchased real estate was 47 years ago, so as you may imagine we were all smiles.
The unit had been on the market for three years, so the sellers and their agent were also in a celebratory mood as we exchanged keys. My buyers are going to take their time moving in, we budgeted funds for them to replace the carpeting and upgrade some of the plumbing fixtures.
The Towers condominums are located off of Fallstaff Rd in Pikesville, MD - at least that's how most residents would describe it. The location is in the northwest corner of Baltimore City that borders Pikesville, Maryland. You might also hear the area referred to as Fallstaff. It is a convenient location that is favored by Baltimore's large Jewish Community.
The Towers Condominums were built c.1990, and the landscaping on the grounds is lush. As my buyer and I looked out their new bedroom windows we were impressed at the wide variety of trees that surrounded the buildings. This complex also has a great community pool with a clubhouse where residents can entertain guests and host private functions.
How is it that I've spent the last six years only representing sellers? Well the majority of my work has been real estate auctions. I still love auctions, but I thought it was time to add buyer agency to my professional mix. Auction accounts are challenging, so I have to admit helping these clients find a condo and negotiating a great deal felt like a cakewalk.
The next step for my buyers? Well, they're about to become sellers. Once they've moved to this great new condo, I'll be listing their Mt. Washington home of almost 50 years. Its an honor to be trusted with this important business.
We ended settlement today with an exchange of gifts. The listing agent, Mindy Per of Long & Foster gave me a gift of Godiva chocolate! She had also brought a huge basket of ripe strawberries for us to nosh at the settlement table. I hope to get to work with Mindy again soon.
